The Importance of Finding the Right Door for your Home
There are several things to consider when you are buying a new door for your home and at Dawes and Green, we like to think that we’ve got the selection to beat all our competitors. It’s not just about the look and feel of the door, though; you’ll also be concerned about security and which is the best lock system to choose. The great news is that there’s a lot of choice out there nowadays and we’re on hand at Dawes and Green to give you all the advice and guidance you need.
Design and Look
Whatever materials you are choosing, the good news is that there are a range of styles and colours to pick from. This used to be a fairly basic choice in the past but with better machining and manufacturing techniques the range has increased dramatically. Take a look down your street. Do you want to stand out from the crowd or fit in with the local design ethos? Whether you want a bright red door with a glass front or something more traditional, you need to think about this carefully before you make your choice.
Materials
Doors are made of different materials from uPVC or wood to aluminium. Things might vary slightly depending on the source material but all give a good quality, solid door that is fit for purpose in a range of different styles. Much will depend on personal preference, of course – if you want something light, durable and easy on the eye, aluminium is a pretty good choice but if cost is your deciding factor then uPVC is just as great.
Glass or Solid Front
Doors usually come with a solid front or frosted glass. If security is your main issue, then we advise going for the solid panels. Most glass ones are pretty strong, having said that, with double glazed panels, so if you like the traditional glass front then there’s no need to worry that you are impacting your security at the same time.
Locks
The locking system on most new modern doors is pretty good nowadays. Multiple locking points mean that you don’t have to worry about burglars levering your door open while you are away. Our locking systems conform to EU standards and are resistant to most types of forced entry. You can also get doors that have locking points on both sides of the door frame if you want added security.
There is also the added option of total automation and top of the range locking systems via fingerprint access or remote control.
While choosing a new front or back door takes a bit more thought nowadays, the cost and range of products available means that you can easily find the solution you are looking for. Highly secure and with great designs, your next door should be everything you want it to be and more.
